ABOUT
The Magic of Yoga
Yoga is magic. Yoga is healing. Yoga helps me to reconnect with me, with the present moment, with what is. So often I lose myself in thoughts, situations and in others. My body complains but my mind is not listening. Yoga teaches me to be present, to breath, to feel and to listen. The practice gives a direct feedback on how you approach life. The body and the breath are a mirror showing you reality. Pushing too hard, feeling defeated, giving up, blaming yourself or feeling happy that you can do an asana. How you cope with the asanas and the challenge is a reflection on how you cope with similar situations in life. It shows me who I am. Yoga for the mind.
Yoga for the body, means releasing, expanding, strengthening. Yoga brought me a lot of stress release; it gives softness in the always existing tension in my body. Less pain, more lightness. Becoming entirely still, to listen, to soften. And then moving from this place of softness the journey to a greater body awareness starts.
The feeling of being in this flow; focus, breath, finding the resistance, staying calm in discomfort, strengthens me. The balance of effort and ease creates lightness which cultivates contentment. This for me is magic. We all have it inside us. We just need to find it.
ABOUT ME
Hi, my name is Marlies Westra. My yoga journey started 10 years ago. After practicing in many different studios and with teachers all over the world, I decided to take the step to become a teacher. Finishing 400h of Yoga Teacher Trainings and many workshops, my path of sharing this yoga magic began in 2017. I love to sing, dance and glitter (biodegradable!). Every year I’m in Asia to learn some more, get inspired and practice.
